Why people do things...

After some current events I've sat back and wondered why people do the things that they do. Particularly bad.

Would you purposely hurt someone?

Personally, I try to stick this-

"Theres nothing someone can do to you that calls for retaliation of a greater amount."

Its just something I made up now, but I think it has some sense to it, what do you think?
